Trefoil Corporation

Trefoil Corporation is a Maine-based software house specializing in database integration, custom programming, and the conversion of research concepts into commercial products.

In 1999-2000, Trefoil designed the software interface for O*NET, the US Department of Labor's replacement for the Dictionary of Occupational Titles. This project involved integrating new O*NET occupational codes, titles and definitions with eight major classification systems of labor information, some of which had to be re-structured to work efficiently within the new O*NET classification system.

During the course of this work, Trefoil became very familiar with the O*NET 98 database and the O*NET 98 Data Dictionary, a compendium of labor-related descriptors. The O*NET 98 product suite included the software Viewer, a User's Guide, the Database and the Data Dictionary.

Occupational Viewer

In 2001, Trefoil expanded this work to create Occupational Viewer™ 2000 and the Occupational Viewer™ Suite, a commercial product integrating O*NET 98 and the newer O*NET 3.0 data. The Suite includes an automated Resume Builder and Job Description Writer. Closely related to this product, is the ValueComp™ compensation system that is based on O*NET.

Other Projects

We are also actively involved in several projects which convert paper and pencil assessment tools into computerized, commercial formats. This work includes career counseling questionnaires; NIH/NLM-funded assessment tools for determining language development in infants and toddlers; and computerized support and report formatting for a multi-session, human-led project planning seminar.
